How I Celebrated

Well, flounder is not an easy fish to find, and even if I found it, it is more expensive than salmon and I ONLY buy salmon on sale. Not cool. Instead, we opted for opah, a fish I had never tasted before. So we were still trying something new and kind of a new dish. The opah was probably over cooked (although, freshness could have been a factor, I really don't know since I haven't tried it before). I tried to sear it before I put it in the oven and it was cooking way too fast. It is really fiberous, not flaky like salmon or halibut. Also, the stuffing recipe was kind of thrown together because some things sounded good, other things didn't. I don't use mayo anymore etc. After all of that, I think that the problems I had with the stuffing were first of all the quality we got, it was really dry, not your usual easy shred imitation crab. Second, I think I put too many onions. I don't really like onions in the first place, but then only cooking for 5 min in the oven was not enough for the onions to get to my preferred texture and so it ended up tasting like a hot crab salad wrapped in a fish filet. If that is what it is supposed to taste like then sure, whatever. It works. I think I was expecting or wanting a crab DIP taste. So probably pre-cooked with cream cheese or something. Yeah, that would be better.

Diet Helpers

  • Sugar Free

Wine is sugar free, and crab stuffed flounder does not often have added sugar
  • Gluten Free

Wine is gluten free and as long as you do not include any gluten products like saltines or bread crumbs in your stuffing or crust, crab stuffed flounder is pretty easy too. (Well to stay gluten free... good luck finding flounder).
  • Vegetarian

Wine yes, but obviously flounder is a fish and crab is shellfish. Try some fishless filets

History

Punchbowl
I know a lot of articles try to exaggerate the benefits of wine, but you have to wonder is it the wine, like after it has been fermented? Or what about if you ferment it further to a vinegar? Everyone talks about the "apple cider vinegar cleanse". Because alcohol is not good for your liver. It reminds me of some other article I read that showed a chart of just how much certain "health foods" also have adverse effects on your body, curing and causing cancer at the same time haha. Not too worried about all that. Just sounds like more excuses to get drunk.

Merchandise

Flounder is a lovable character. Kind of. I mean, it is Disney. And he is kind of dumb. And a coward. You know what? I think fish ARE food, not friends.

Restaurants

  • Check out living social. I see wine tastings on that all the time
  • You can go to a winery or a vineyard, or how about a restaurant called The Winery?
  • Crab stuffed flounder is not a common dish, at least google search wise. The only restaurant I found in my short search was at The Isles Restaurant in NC
