How I Celebrated

Luckily we had some quick hamburger helper lasagna that we used ground chicken in instead of hamburger. Then, we made "boneless wings" with some dino nuggets and chili wing sauce (SO GOOD but kinda spicy). We had a cheese sampler for sacrifice cheese purchase day, but you know, we don't have mice so we didn't have to sacrifice it.

How I Celebrated

Investigating non alcoholic scotch, Nate found a drink called a scotch and soda that is non alcoholic and is usually served in burger joints around Walla Walla Washington and some reports online have said they have it in Idaho as well. There are no firm recipes, and some people have said that places they have visited and tried it also have very different tasting recipes. Most of what I have found require a lemon lime soda with vanilla syrup. That is what I tried, and it was delicious, but it really was very similar to cream soda, so I am not sure if that is what it is supposed to taste like. Some people say that it is supposed to be short for butterscotch and soda, so maybe a butterscotch syrup would have been a better choice.

Nate made the creme brulee yesterday, so I did not have the chance to eat it fresh out of the oven, but it looked and tasted GREAT. It was also my first time having it, so I do not know how good it came out. It reminded me a lot of flan. Really really recommend.

Since I am not a coffee drinker, I wasn't planning on having a coffee shake, but it was too tempting. Luckily it was a very watered down version. "Coffee juice" was mixed into my milkshake so it had a faint coffee flavor, but mostly vanilla. Thanks Nate :) Also, everything bagels because they have everything (picture Stefon's voice from SNL).

I thought initially that I would go to McDonald's, but Nate went to the store before my thought could follow through. So, it is chocolate syrup instead of hot fudge, but tasty just the same. Also, whipped topping and salted peanuts (not the crushed kind) all up in a fancy glass too.

Nate bought corn syrup just for this... I mean when are we going to use that again? Anyhow, it was very fudge like, but tasted more like caramel instead of chocolate. Very sugar dense and I could not have more than that tiny piece, but it had a good flavor.

Ice cream soda is a great treat to come home too after walking for a while in the hot sun. Strawberry soda was a new flavor of soda for me to have with ice cream. The spiral rainbow lollipop is really cute, but cherry is not my flavor and they are kind of big. Maybe I should have gone to a gas station and bought a single lollipop or something. Oh well, we will give away the rest. At least I won't be tempted to eat more.

How I Celebrated

A small can of caviar was $5 something. I thought it would be expensive, but to put it in perspective, it is almost $40/lb. Nate did the math because he compared it to the red caviar at the deli and that was the price of the red caviar, so it was just barely cheaper. We had to look up how to serve it because I was not positive what it is supposed to go on top of. Obviously, there are fish eggs on some sushi, so I imagine it is pretty versatile. Here, we made what they called a "classic caviar platter" with toast, "creme fraiche", and some egg with the caviar (I omitted the onions). The verdict is Nate hates it and I think it just tastes like fish salt.

How I Celebrated

I'm sure they make peach ice cream at some ice cream parlors, but we did not find any at the grocery store. We decided to puree some peaches and add it to vanilla ice cream. It ended up being a lot harder after it was frozen so it took a while to be able to scoop. It tasted good, but didn't keep up that smooth texture ice cream is supposed to have. Since it was Sundae Sunday as well, we had sundaes with the peach and vanilla ice cream, melted some dark hazelnut Ritter Sport, had some home made strawberry syrup and whipped cream. Oh, and I put some fresh cherries on top. I guess Ice Cube might say, today was a good day.

How I Celebrated

Just a can of pork and beans with some ballpark franks and baked crinkle cut fries. Of course I would prefer crispy fries, but this is healthier... maybe. There is only so much you can trust about pre packaged cheap food. If you think my face was weird while I was eating, it is because I was half expecting the hot dogs to taste disgusting as Nate tried them before and warned me that they were not very good. I thought they were just fine. Worried for nothing. Great lunch if you ask me.

How I Celebrated

I was really hungry this morning so the muffin was not all that bad. It was a nice cheap jiffy mix. I of course got Coke flavor for my free slurpee day treat where all the pokemon go gym puppy guards were playing (eff those guys). And the mojito was one of those cheap flavored drinks from the dollar store. Pretty good day overall.

How I Celebrated

Today I paid tribute to the days I used to work at Orange Julius where my favorite drink was the pina colada smoothie. Even though I used ice cream instead of froyo, I did not add simple syrup so it was no where near as delicious (not nearly as much sugar). I just used pineapple, coconut milk, and ice cream. Thick and yum.

So Nate made this funky sugar cookie recipe. I don't know what he did but he said they were a "healthier" version. They did taste lighter somehow, but were still super yum and I would never think that they weren't cookies. However, we both did get tummy aches and are suspicious if the cookies are the culprit. How I Celebrated

I had a delicious perfectly cheesy omelette for lunch thanks to my insanely amazing significant other. Also, I finished off the bag of almond m&ms that Nate and I have been sharing this week. Those also tasted better than usual because they were free. Finally, I tried the almond candy bar that Nate purchased a while ago for this day. Unfortunately, that one was a major let down because the "chocolate" had already got to that powdery stale state. I brought it home to try and decide if I am going to try and make some sort of redeeming recipe out of it, but it may end up going in the trash.

Nate thought we had easy mac, but WE DONT so he had to make some mac from scratch and it was delicious. Cheese is always delicious, you really can't go wrong (well, I guess there is always blue cheese... gross). And, of course, the delicious strawberry sundae with fresh strawberries. Oh and a leftover chocolate mini cupcake from the 4th since it is World Chocolate day.

How I Celebrated

Didnt really want to get the house all hot from cooking again, and cooking chicken again so soon. Therefore, a grocery store deli purchase was made. These were labeled as "spicy wings" but as everyone can plainly see (and as I could clearly taste) these were chicken nuggets. Besides the mislabel, I have no complaints. Crispy and delicious and with the Parmesan pepper ranch, it was quite the bite.
