How I Celebrated

This was not the easiest process and I didn't look at a recipe until after I put it in the oven. It didn't come out bad, but it could have been faster. First of all, I dont have super good knives to help me butterfly the meat at the bone, nor had I ever done it before. I cut it and put seasoning on the inside, but because it was not spread out, it was not an even or a fast cook! I also should have let it rest out of the fridge for a while. Anyways, I cut up some onion, carrot and zucchini, smashed some garlic and laid it down as a bed for my lamb leg. After poorly cutting my meat, I placed it in the pan and poured coconut oil over everything, making sure to rub it all over my leg of lamb. Then I made a spice rub with rosemary, salt, pepper, garlic powder, sage, parsley, and chicken base. After rubbing that all over the lamb, I sprinkled the extra around the veggies. Covered in foil, I put it in the oven at 375 for 15 min. It was then I learned I should have broiled it first, though I have never tried and therefore never had a successful broil. I turned down the temp and cooked it for another hour and fifteen minutes. Upon checking the pan, it did not look cooked, so I uncovered it, turned it, and tried it on 375 for another... 25 min? Tried turning on the broil for 10, it didn't seem to do anything! Then another 20 min or so I took it out. It looked cooked and I had some of the outside meat, but then when I cut down into the thick area near the bone, sure enough it was not done *sigh* WHAT A PROCESS.

Lamb is such an interesting flavor of meat. Seafood tastes a lot alike and even fowl and frogs taste similar, but that flavor of lamb is so crazy. It makes me want to taste other animals. Ah well I will just have to wait until the apocalypse.

Since we don't have a torch (or the technique/skill) to do flambe, beverage was the easy option. Well, it was hard to decide what beverage I wanted, but peach aloe just spoke to me in the moment.

Made some quick vegetarian style enchiladas. I probably should have sauteed my peppers first cause I like the softer texture, but it tasted good all the same. Nate made me a hoagie as well so I had quite the lunch. Happy cinco de mayo erryone.

Store brand with added calcium. We know the cheap way to go yo. Fresh squeezed is better though cause it isn't zombie juice. It still tastes so freaking good.

History

OJ is probably my favorite juice and breakfast drink. I could probably drink a gallon a day way easier than a gallon of water. As delicious as store bought stuff is, I know, I have watched all kinds of videos about how it is zombie juice and not real and not nutritious. Go on, just straight up tell me to get my life. I'll agree with you.

How I Celebrated

Ah chocolate truffles. I have had some pretty waxy ones in my time. I love the lindt ones, but this time we tried whatever the brand is we found at the dollar store. Very hit and miss, but much more adventurous. This was a hit, the chocolate was soft, smooth, and rich. The cocoa was strong and it did not taste waxy. Let's hope the stomach also enjoys it.

Diet Helpers

  • Sugar Free

The mushroom truffles are sugar free. Here is a recipe for a sugar free dessert truffle. Tuna is also gluten free.
  • Gluten Free

Make sure to look out for your ingredients in chocolate. The rest is fine.
  • Vegetarian

Only the tuna will cause a problem here. Try something like this

History

I have only recently (like within the last year) learned what the actual fungus truffle was. I also only recently tasted it in umami burger. Not my favorite. Now I can understand why a chocolate truffle is called such, it looks like the ones that occur in nature.
