How I Celebrated

You gotta know I love my cereal. That is why Sesame Street knew how to appeal to kids like me.

I chose frosted flakes because lately, that is what I have been in the mood for. Kind of a nostalgia. Usually I am all about captain crunch. Sorry there was no crown roast of pork. I really do not need to be cooking all day and only have pork to eat the rest of the week!

Diet Helpers

  • Sugar Free

There are times where pork is maybe honey glazed, but you can probably guess a crown roast is not going to have sugar. There are also plenty of sugar free cereals out there, hot cereals are for sure.
  • Gluten Free

RICE AND CORN CHEX! I know because I love them and it always says so on the box. I'm sure there are plenty of others for cereal. You are good to go with the pork as well (careful with stuffing)
  • Vegetarian

    Cereal, yes. Pork ribs, no.

History

Punchbowl
Cereal probably sustained my life. I'm pretty sure that is the bulk of what my home meals were in high school. That explains my high sugar tolerance and inability to lose weight despite all the running around I did. Imagine that in the 1860s cereal was a healthier alternative for breakfast.

Merchandise

How boss would it be to have a cereal spoon just for that. Engraved with the words "cereal killer". Yeah. It has been on my wishlist of unnecessary and excessive things forever.

Restaurants

  • You can buy a crown roast here. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say you probably are not going to find a whole crown on a restaurant menu.
  • And just when you thought that you couldn't pay any more for name brand cereal, you can go to a cereal bar and take it up a notch!
  • At least Mix n' Munch serves grilled cheese along side their cereal mixtures

How I Celebrated

Ok, so I worked between these two recipes: (kraft, taste of home) and found I didn't have quite enough cream cheese, so I decided to do some math based on how much I had (enough for a little more than half the recipe). With measuring equipment not quite exacting to the decimal, I had to play around with the amounts, they are not all accurate. Also, using whipped greek yogurt cream cheese, I didn't know how that would change the recipe. It was not as firm/stable so I decided to add a bit more flour, but it was a lot easier to cream with the sugar (you don't need to soften it). It was also strawberry flavored so it will be a white chocolate strawberry cheesecake. I decided before I started that it probably would not fit into a full graham cracker pie crust being half a recipe, so I remade the pie crust into the mini cupcake size ones. After mixing the ingredients though, it probably would have filled it just fine as I had enough for the full dozen (it is hard to conceptualize oz for me, but at least I cut down the baking time!) We used Ghiradelli white chocolate chips, and I'm saving the rest of mine for future baking endeavors, but the plus of having extra is you can make some delicious topping if you want. I put some of Nate's fruit compote on top of mine. Yum!

History

Punchbowl
I would like to know what the original cheese cake used to taste like. It does not sound as delicious, but hey, anything for special powers, am I right, Nacho?
I think that I would benefit from making freezer meals, but I really just do not have enough freezer space.
Also, question for everyone. What is the best kind of oreo? There are so many flavors in China that I do not see here at all. A ton of hybrid flavors. Most of them are fruit flavors. I think my happiest encounters are double stuffed or uh-oh oreos.

Restaurants

  • Can you believe I still have not eaten at the Cheesecake Factory? Might be too trendy (read: expensive) for me.
  • Granger and Co popped up on trip advisor (they are in London so plan accordingly)
  • If you go to a fast food restaurant, it is most likely anything you order was frozen before you ate it, so that one is easy.
  • Here are some places in NY that use oreos in their dishes
  • You can probably go to any ice cream place and get cookies in cream ice cream or a shake. Good choice.

How I Celebrated

I was thinking I would get plain Cheetos today because it was more of a classic cheese doodles day, but Nate knows me better and got hot Cheetos. He knows that the hot fries are my favorite, but classic style has more of a doodle shape. Bon apetit.

History

Punchbowl
Cheese Doodles (Cheetos). Who knew such a crazy invention with a crazy name would become so popular? Well, all the smart kids know that hot Cheetos are the way to go.
Absinthe is so very interesting to me. Mostly because in all the ways it is depicted, it seems very mysterious. Also it is called the green fairy? Pretty awesome.

Merchandise

Look how pretty all the glassware is for absinthe! It definitely does not fit in with cheese puff day.

Restaurants

  • Here are places to have absinthe cocktails in LA
  • There is a restaurant called Absinthe in San Francisco
  • I have not yet found a restaurant that serves cheese curls besides the chip bags with your sandwich at maybe Subway. So you will have to do that or head to a grocery or convenience store. Happy shopping!

How I Celebrated

Luckily we found a pound cake for today! It was a banana pound cake and it was delicious. It was really weird because I usually buy pound cakes at the dollar store, and when I made my trifle this last time, they didn't have any so I had to bake my own. No biggie, just an extra step. Anyways, that was old news, enjoy this fresh new vid.

Diet Helpers

  • Sugar Free

How about this pound cake that is both sugar free and gluten free?
  • Gluten Free

    See above
  • Vegetarian

    Yes, pound cakes are vegetarian.

History

Interesting how pound cake got its name. The more you know, right? I am not sure when I first tried pound cake, but I know I use it often in my trifles because I never can find angel food cake when I need it.

History

Well I don't know how well the two go together, but I feel like it is a little late in the year already to still be having warm drinks. Well, specifically, warm Christmas-y spiced drinks ( I guess people do drink tea and coffee year round). Wikipedia doesn't even go into the history of lunch meat, it just talks about how unhealthy it is. That is why we have holidays. We HAVE to eat it. It is tradition. I know you think it is unhealthy, but this holiday only comes once a year not "all the time" (oh man, this really can be the only year I do this...)

Nate made a few peanut buttery treats we are bringing to our friend's birthday party today. I had a bit of a preview for my vid upload today!

Diet Helpers

  • Sugar Free

Here is a recipe for some sugar free compote. If you make your own peanut butter, it is easier to make sure it is sugar free. Pig all depends on how you cook it.
  • Gluten Free

    YES
  • Vegetarian

Well, the compote and the peanut butter is fine.

Recipes

History

Punchbowl
Really? No one knows who invented peanut butter? Nate thought it was George Washington Carver, but it looks like his history book was outdated (Thanks, Obama).

Merchandise

I think I used to not like pigs until I saw really cute pig characters. Like the evil piglets on adventure time, or I guess even Winnie the Pooh's friend is cute too, but Piglet is pretty skinny for a pig, so I feel like that was a lie.
