Previously Completed Challenges

As I am compiling my research and preparing calendars, links, widgets, budgets, recipes, maps ETC, I have finally come across a few others who have completed this challenge or something similar.

First of all, I came across someone who had a similar idea to why I came up with this in the first place. When I very first became interested in obscure holidays, I just wanted to have all of them on one calender on my wall every day. That way, if I ever felt like the world was mundane and life is pointless (hey, it gets that way sometimes) then I could look on my calendar and be reminded of things that I can celebrate. I don't know that anyone could "complete" the task of creating that. Most calenders are not in agreement. But here is the first Blog I came to in my searching:

The Year of Living Unofficially in which Brittany and Chris Neigh celebrated an unofficial holiday everyday for 2012. I emailed their contact page to see if they had found anything similar to their blog during their research.

Next, I found this amazing page: The Almanac of Eats which Steph Ate the Year in 2012 and perhaps some days in 2013 (She said she ate some more the next year, have not went through her whole blog yet). I don't know if I will have time to go through everything she has done, because you will see that she has also blogged frequently about her dinners and delicious food in different states. I will probably get her book though, and see if it will help out with my challenge.

Then I found another couple who did it in 2013 on Eat My Words. Mark and Tara did the daily challenge, and then the next year, they continued to celebrate the holidays they didn't get to (since some days have multiples).

I will continue to post blogs that I find of other people who have completed something like this. It is really helpful to see what other people have posted, at the same time, it is a bummer that I don't have an original idea. That being said, I will use this info to make this blog unique and fun.

Coming Soon!

Starting the challenge in 2016!

Did you know there is a food holiday for basically every day of the year? That is one of the reasons Bon Appetit doesn't celebrate food holidays. Sure it can sound gluttonous or pointless or like you are falling for someone's marketing scheme, but I think it is a great way to celebrate any and every day AND WITH FOOD. So I have set out to complete a full year of consuming the celebrated goods! Feel free to join and post along with me!
